Reggie Bush Regains 2005 Heisman Trophy

Former USC Running Back's Award Restored After Vacated in 2010

Award Returns 12 Years After Vacating

Reggie Bush, the former USC running back who won the Heisman Trophy in 2005, has had the award reinstated this week after it was vacated in 2010 due to NCAA violations. Bush was found to have received improper benefits while playing for the Trojans, which led to the NCAA stripping him of his Heisman and suspending him from the team.

Bush appealed the NCAA's decision, and in 2015, the NCAA reinstatement committee ruled that he should be reinstated and that his records should be restored. However, the Heisman Trust, which awards the trophy, did not immediately reinstate the award to Bush.

After further review, the Heisman Trust has now decided to reinstate the trophy to Bush. The Trust cited Bush's cooperation with the NCAA investigation and his subsequent work in the community as factors in their decision.

Bush, now 34, is currently an on-air college football analyst for Fox Sports. He has also worked as a sports commentator for ESPN and the NFL Network.
