Hampden Park erupted as the midfielder's late strike secured a dramatic 3-2 victory

Scott McTominay's injury-time strike secured a dramatic 3-2 victory for Scotland against Israel in their World Cup qualifier at Hampden Park on Saturday.

The Manchester United midfielder fired home from close range in the 94th minute to spark wild celebrations among the home fans.

The victory keeps Scotland on course for a place in the play-offs for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Scotland had taken the lead through John McGinn in the 12th minute, but Israel hit back with two goals from Eran Zahavi in the 30th and 45th minutes.

Lyndon Dykes levelled for Scotland in the 56th minute, setting the stage for McTominay's late heroics.

The result means Scotland are now third in Group F, level on points with second-placed Austria and three points behind leaders Denmark with two games remaining.

Scotland will now face Moldova in their final group game on Tuesday, knowing that a victory will guarantee them a place in the play-offs.
